Angelene Chan

Chairman

We must have courage and patience; we need not fear as we have the strengths and beating hearts of many passionate individuals to make change happen.

There are two things that Ms Angelene Chan, Chairman of DP Architects, holds close to her heart – Design and People. Tapping into her innate ability to balance practical requirements of a brief and invigorate the local context in her designs, Angelene has built an impressive portfolio of works showcasing authentic and purposeful architecture that fulfils the needs of the users and community.

She received recognition for her design verve in 2010 when she was listed as one of Singapore’s 20 leading architects under the age of 45 by the Urban Redevelopment Authority. In 2015, she was conferred the President’s Design Award (P*DA) for her design of Sunray Woodcraft Construction Headquarters. And in 2018, she was named P*DA Designer of the Year by President Halimah Yacob, Singapore’s highest design accolade. Among her portfolio of works are award-winning projects that she spearheaded. These include The Dubai Mall, Resorts World Sentosa and the transformation of Wisma Atria shopping mall along Orchard Road.

During her term as CEO (Jan 2016–Jan 2021), Angelene steered the firm in strategic growth towards greater international presence, and higher design and service delivery benchmarks through increased specialisation in architecture-related disciplines and use of technology. As Chairman, she continues in this work, ensuring that DP’s strategic roadmap aligns with the growth of DP’s global and specialist offices to meet the firm’s vision and goals.

An active contributor to the profession and building industry, Angelene sits on the Singapore Land Authority board, the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore board, the Sentosa Development Corporation board and the Housing Development Board’s Architectural Design Panel. She is a member of the World City Summit Knowledge Council, and the National University of Singapore Board of Trustees, and also serves as the Vice-Chairperson of the Dover Park Hospice governing council and the Chairperson of its Building & Development Committee. In 2022, Angelene was awarded the MND Medallion for her contributions to the MND family as a board member on Singapore’s Board of Architects and the Professional Engineers Board.
