Francis joined DP Architects in Singapore in 1978 as an Architectural Assistant. As an Associate Architect in 1983, he was the Project Architect of Rahardja Centre – a mixed development with an estimated construction cost of S$800 million. In 1983, he served as the Project Architect for Wisma Atria in Singapore and saw to its completion in 1986. In 1990, he was promoted to Executive Director. He took charge of Suntec City, the largest private project in Singapore, at a construction cost of S$1.7 billion. This exposure provided him with the experience in the design development and the project management of mega projects.

In 2000, he was appointed Deputy CEO and in 2004, he was appointed CEO of DP Architects, overseeing the strategic direction and growth of the company, local and overseas. In 2003, he served as the Project Director for The Dubai Mall, the largest retail complex in the world at a construction cost of USD1 billion.

This project paved the way for the firm’s foray into the Middle East, and in 2005, he set up the firm’s Dubai Office.
