Toh Sze Chong

Director

Toh Sze Chong first ventured into the Middle East market with DP Architects’ international mega retail project, The Dubai Mall. As its project architect, Sze Chong was involved in the full project cycle; effectively seeing it from conception to completion in 2008. Thereafter, he was actively involved in building up projects in the fast-growing Middle East region, namely the UAE, Doha, Cairo and Jordan while overseeing the implementation and construction of Universal Studio Singapore at Resorts World Sentosa as the Project Architect.

Today, on top of overseeing the growth of DP’s Middle East office, Sze Chong handles a mix of full scope and frontline design projects with extensive expertise in Technical Knowledge and Design Development in Detailed Design and Construction stages. His expressed expertise in the latter scopes of architectural work stems from a core principle: details define the building. Architectural excellence, Sze Chong holds, lies in properly executed details. When done well, they not only enhance the appearance of a building but also avoid defects which makes for well-built and long-lasting developments.

His depth of experience and attention to details are complemented by a collaborative, hands-on and open-minded approach. This has been key to successful partnerships with different international clients, consultants and contractors for the effective delivery of large scale projects on a global stage such as Lusail Commercial Boulevard, a shopping street equivalent in length to Orchard Road and Doha Festival City mall, the largest retail development in Qatar.
