DP Architects teams up with Eutech Cybernetic to develop a range of smart solutions for the built environment

Published on 26 November 2018

Singapore – DP Architects and its group of companies, and Eutech Cybernetic, have signed an MOU on 23 November 2018 to jointly develop Smart solutions for the building and real estate industry.

This exclusive partnership follows DPA’s larger designINTELLIGENCE strategy to push design boundaries through innovation and to further enhance its delivery through technology. The collaboration with Eutech, a leading global digital infrastructure provider, means that DP Architects, Singapore’s largest architecture practice, will be able to incorporate Smart solutions in their building designs that allow clients and building owners to manage data from different monitoring devices using an open digital platform.

Currently, smart technology systems by different providers do not communicate with each other. Eutech is the first in the world to digitally design, implement and operate smart buildings and smart precincts on a single platform through its flagship software, iviva. The MOU means that DPA and Eutech will jointly custom design holistic Smart solutions that simplifies building maintenance. The technology enables the interfacing of energy, security, health and safety, facility management solutions, sensors and Internet of Things, so that they can be managed on a single digital platform.

The partnership complements the existing culture of collaboration that DP is built on while opening up opportunities for a new standard in smart design. The move to marry design and technology is both timely and strategic for the two companies. It is a response to rising demand for new or existing buildings to drastically reduce fault reaction time, amidst increasing focus on sustainability through improved energy-efficiency and resource allocation.

Each partner will leverage on the expertise of the other. DPA brings five decades of design portfolio, expertise across 18 typologies, 10 architecture-related specialists and a rich pool of resources to the table. Combining these, the architecture firm has developed a unique multi-disciplinary approach and honed an integrated design methodology that it exports to international markets via its 16 global studios. Eutech, as a global software provider that develops and implements proprietary software solutions for workplace management, smart buildings and healthcare, comes with an accumulated 15 years of domain knowledge and experience through the deployment of smart building and hospital management software systems. Together, DPA and Eutech are interested in developing a commercial collaboration in the areas of Smart Buildings including Smart FM, Smart Precincts, Smart Workplace and an integrated digital delivery.

CEO of DPA, Ms Angelene Chan says: “The partnership with Eutech responds to the increasing demand to optimise the resources required to upkeep a building and fits perfectly in the BCA design-for-maintainability framework. Working in collaboration, DPA and Eutech will jointly design and implement smart digital infrastructure in building projects,” continues Ms Chan. “With the utilisation of innovative technological solutions, our clients can look forward to built spaces of enhanced occupant experience that are significantly more energy-efficient, sustainable and cost-effective.”

CEO of Eutech, Dr Hari Gunasingham: “Eutech Cybernetic is delighted to exclusively partner DP Architects group to develop the next generation of smart buildings for global markets. Eutech and DPA will collaborate to design and implement buildings that are smarter and more sustainable through the development of innovative solutions that integrate form, function and intelligence in areas such as Smart FM, façade management, lighting and sound control, and digital signage. The work will draw on the rich technologies, skills and knowledge base of our two companies and our shared vision for the built environment.”

The MOU signing ceremony was held last week, during the DP designFUTURE Conference at NUS University Cultural Centre. The conference is held annually and gathers thought leaders, distinguished figures and industry professionals to discourse the issues and challenges facing the future of architecture and design as well as the forces of change that will shape cities of the future.
