Toh Li Chuin

Director

Toh Li Chuin’s approach to design process is guided by three prongs: a keenness towards learning, an attitude of constant improvement and a heart for pragmatism. She believes in shaping spaces around their intended users and contexts, always bringing a fresh set of design ideas tailored to each project no matter the typology.

This commitment towards designing for end-users and sensitively responding to cultural and local context is evident in her design portfolio. This includes the Dubai Mall, one of the largest shopping malls in UAE and its and a large-scale mixed-use development project, comprising of Residential Units, Hotels, Offices and Retail, within the Deira Enrichment project in Dubai of prime land covering a GFA of approximately 235,600 square meters. Adroit in handling projects from inception through to project completion, her work in Addition and Alteration (A&A) projects such as The Paragon Shopping Centre and Marina Square Shopping Centre as well as the Minton Condominium of over 1,100 units, each testifies to Li Chuin’s dexterity in facilitating complex technical requirements and attests to her spirit for aligning projects to its aspiration and distinct requirements.

In line with her spirit for design innovation, Li Chuin co-leads the retail typology research group in DP and champions collaborative teamwork in project implementation. She is also currently the project director for the provision of Retail and F&B planning and Design consultancy for Changi Airport’s fifth terminal (T5). Outside of DP, Li Chuin served as a director on the Board of the Catholic Architectural Guild for three years until 2023; during which she led the Guild’s thrust on the appreciation of Catholic Church Architecture.
