Rainforest Wild Adventure (West), Singapore’s fifth wildlife park, offers an immersive visitor experience that is unlike its contemporaries. Developed and delivered in conjunction with Mandai Wildlife Group, DP’s multidisciplinary team built on their initial master plan and concept, harmoniously blending immersive nature experiences with outdoor adventure elements for a one-of-a-kind zoological park.

Crucial to the architectural scheme were the preservation of the existing landscape and ensuring the park’s accessibility to all visitor groups. To achieve this, advanced digital tools and systems were employed to map the terrain and inform design decisions and the construction process. A high level of care was exercised throughout, with a ‘Tree Protection Zone’ established to ensure that existing trees – whether exotic, endangered or common – were unharmed during construction. Furthermore, detailed design coordination was carried out on 3D Building Information Modelling platforms, and façade works on the various themed adventure plots were carefully modelled and precast off-site to minimise potential site mistakes and environmental impact during construction.

The team also ensured that the entire development, including the Cavern, the ‘Green Path’ and the ‘Orange Path’ designs, comply with local safety standards while meeting the project’s required standards for Buildability Design scoring. The ‘Green Path’, an elevated walkway that elegantly weaves through the rainforest, serves as the main circulation route. Its gentle gradient, curated spots for rest and photography, non-slip timber decking, and mesh barriers on two sides allow for a safe yet seamless view and experience with nature and wildlife that appeals to and is accessible to all visitors. En route, the more adventurous and active visitors are offered the option of descending to the forest floor via staircases. Here, they may embark on trekking paths for a more personal encounter with animal habitats.

Completed and launched in March 2025, Rainforest Wild Adventure (West) obtained the highest rating of five stars in Universal Design provisions, bringing an immersive experience that is authentic to the rainforest and connecting all people with nature.
