Two Professionals from DP Architects and DP Sustainable Design Recognised as Promising Young Talents

ALL NEWS

DP Architects is proud to share the news that at the recently concluded Perspective Global’s 40 Under 40 Award, two Built Environment professionals from DP and its specialists have been recognised as promising young individuals under the age of 40. It is one of only two firms with multiple winners named at the Awards.

The first winner, DP Architect’s associate Josiah Leong, was part of the architectural team responsible for the multiple award-winning HomeTeamNS Khatib Clubhouse, as well as the Why Green? pavilion that won accolades in the 2019 London Design Awards and 2020 International Architecture Awards.

DPA associate Josiah Leong

Josiah’s design philosophy emphasizes upon Architecture’s ability to shape human experiences in both form and function, with the spatial experience being at the forefront of a designer’s thinking. Believing that an equilibrium can be achieved from the constant push/pull tension between the various stakeholders in the design process (designer, clients and end-user), he espouses that the beauty of architecture can only be fully realized through people-centricity and dialogue. Josiah has also been actively engaging with his community, helming the belief that such interactions enable a better understanding of varying needs/desires and therefore, bettering himself as an architect. Outside of the office, he volunteers with the National Youth Council and has facilitated youths in participating in the URA’s Long Term Planning Review.

The second winner, DP Sustainable Design’s associate director Adelina Jaya, is among the first 13 Built Environment professionals in Singapore to have attained both WiredScore and SmartScore accreditation. She was also part of the pioneer team to establish NimbleSIM, DP Architect’s own in-house tool employed by architects to perform iterative building performance simulations (BPS), enabling architects to make design decisions with greater speed and confidence.

DP Sustainable Design Associate Director Adelina Jaya

Adelina is driven by a belief in balancing architecture and design, that the twin elements of form and space should also be informed by principles of sustainability to create enduring projects harmoniously integrating both aesthetic design and environmental efficiency. She has been involved in the completion of numerous building typologies ranging from master planning, institution, sports facilities, healthcare, commercial and residential developments, both in Singapore and overseas. Many of her projects have successfully achieved the highest levels of Green Mark certification.
