Concluding its 9th cycle, this year’s China Real Estate & Design Award (CREDAward) saw nearly 900 entries from over 300 companies, across 17 countries and regions. The prestigious award gathers participants from government agencies, real estate developers, as well as domestic and global architectural firms.

Among the winning entries are DP Architects’ (DPA) NJITRIP Zhixin Project and its interior design and spatial planning arm, DP Design’s Heartland 66. Both were accorded Merit, under the same category: Comprehensive Commercial Project.

NJITRIP Zhixin Project, an urban office situated at Nanjing Jiangbei New Area Research and Innovation Park and positioned to the north of the Yangtze River, is dedicated to create a progressive, eco- and wellbeing-centred office environment. The architectural concept of the project is derived from the Chinese word liu ‘流’, symbolising the fluidity of data and interaction and innovation. Its façade takes on a visual extension of the Chinese character with vertical sun-shading elements expressed in fluid curves that are applied across each elevation. The resultant architecture is at once modular and elegant.

Located in Wuhan, China, Heartland 66 is a mega retail mall that is part of a fully integrated mixed-use development. Its interior design echoes its architectural form which is inspired by the Chinese Ruyi knot. Sleek lines in oil slick chrome mirrors the exterior verdure, creating visual continuity. Finished in glossy marble and dark brown steel, the interior design appeals to the fashion-conscious clientele.
