HomeTeamNS Khatib Clinches Green Good Design Award 2022

ALL NEWS

“Build A Better World Now” is the overarching message for the Green Good Design Award 2022. In line with this goal, DP Architects is elated to share that HomeTeamNS Khatib, a recreational clubhouse that captures the emotions and stories of the Singapore’s National Servicemen (NSmen), has clinched the award under the Green Architecture category.

Designed as a vessel for the community, the recreation centre dedicates 85% of the built-up area to community-centric facilities, serving as a platform to build a greater sense of camaraderie not only amongst National Servicemen and their families but also with the larger neighborhood of Khatib.

“The vessel of community is forged by opening the doors to a house, so that it can be felt as home.” – Ng San Son, director at DP Architects

Beyond building social resilience, the architectural scheme also focused on contributing to environmental sustainability through the use of passive design strategies. This allowed for the quadruple volume space, which was initially planned for full air-conditioning, to be re-envisioned as a naturally ventilated area. Lush landscaping and smart watering and filtration systems were also implemented.
