Jurong Spring Community Club Receives Honorable Mention at International Architecture Awards 2023

Jurong Spring Community Club (JSCC), a community club project has received Honourable Mention at the recently concluded International Architectural Awards (IAA) 2023. A recognition of the project’s transformative refresh of the old community club, into a vibrant and inclusive community heart.

The community club serves as an extension of the neighbourhood, with its porous and borderless streetscape that invites interactivity and community engagement. The improved connectivity creates a more intentional dialogue between the development and the surroundings, coupled with a re-programmed spatial organisation that allows emphasis on the concept of shared spaces, encouraging greater social cohesion for the residents of Jurong Spring.

Through careful consideration of site history, the façade is expressed in an expanded aluminium mesh and a subdued colour scheme – a nod to its industrial past while allowing it to be an unorthodox expression of the community club typology.

The International Architectural Awards is a long-running prestigious award programme that seeks to acknowledge the latest and best in cutting-edge design worldwide and is jointly organised by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
