Envisioned as one of the greenest, smartest and healthiest workplaces in Singapore and championing low-carbon design, Paya Lebar Green has clinched the internationally renowned Green GOOD DESIGN Award 2025.
This newest addition to the vibrant Paya Lebar precinct was also awarded the Building Construction and Authority (BCA) Green Mark Platinum – Super Low Energy certification. It is also the first office building in both new and old categories to receive all five sustainability badges: Health and Wellbeing, Whole Life Carbon, Resilience, and Intelligence and Maintainability. Photovoltaic panels are also installed on rooftops, offsetting more than 21% of the energy used annually.
Designed for Certis and Lendlease, Paya Lebar Green comprises an extensively retrofitted North Wing and a new South Wing addition, minimising the embodied carbon associated with demolition and thereby reducing its environmental impact. Unifying both buildings is a link bridge that goes beyond its pedestrian function, serving as a conduit of essential services such as electrical power and chilled water pipes, seamlessly integrating the old building with new amenities.
On wellbeing design strategies, lush greenery decorates its communal park, from its façade to the top of the building. The extensive landscaping creates an inviting outdoor gathering space that facilitates greater interaction and a restorative space for its office users and the community alike. Its outdoor thermal comfort was also deeply considered, as the quality of the urban outdoor environment impacts the liveability and wellbeing of the population. The drop-off and walkway areas have also achieved the recommended Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI) for outdoor environments.
Organised by The Chicago Athenaeum and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, the Green GOOD DESIGN award bestows international recognition on outstanding organisations and design works that display exceptional thinking and inspire progress towards a healthier and more sustainable future.
