With the recognition of excellence in land use practice as a guiding principle, the Urban Land Institute (ULI) created the Global Awards for Excellence in 1979 and launched the Asia Pacific Awards programme in 2019.

Designed by DP Architects, RMZ Ecoworld was among 13 other outstanding real estate development projects that have been selected as winners. The projects were awarded for demonstrating a comprehensive level of quality and a forward-looking approach to development and design.

The largest portion of the parcel comprises 325,000sqm with four buildings. The largest building, standing at 102,000sqm, is conceived as conjoined towers with two lobbies and two separate cores. The other towers range in sizes from 37,000 to 65,000sqm. By international standards, these are very large buildings with thousands of population to be catered to as individual towers and as a development.

To create buildings in proportion to its human scale, the massings have been designed with a ‘breaking up’ approach. Here, volumes of glass and volumes of solid are juxtaposed, and ‘stacked’ in such a way that the articulated terraces are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional as a refuge and collaborative spaces. The proportion of glass and solid surfaces is studied with optimisation of thermal comfort in mind.

Located in Bengaluru, India, it was envisioned to provide a world-class workplace and as a mixed development with lifestyle amenities, public spaces and office blocks. Its ultimate design intention was to set it apart from its local counterparts as well as further propel Bengaluru onto the international business scene.
