Singapore Tatler features Angelene Chan

ALL NEWS

DP Architects CEO Angelene Chan spoke about her vision of taking DP to new heights and bringing the Singapore brand to the world in the August 2016 issue of Singapore Tatler.
She mentioned about how The Dubai Mall is a fine example of DP’s direction in going global and that the firm is passionate about promoting Singapore design, efficiency and integrity to the world by taking cues from users, context and climate. Her design mantra centres on three key areas – listen closely, research extensively and innovate, and she believed that the best solutions would emerge through critical questioning and exploration.

The article also touched on DP’s contributions to Singapore’s physical landscape, which reflects the country’s aspirations. Angelene shared her thoughts about the firm’s future, given that it would be inevitably intertwined with Singapore’s direction as a nation. She explained the importance of community integration as the cornerstone of a successful society, and that spaces must be designed for groups of all ages and abilities.

She also believed in conserving heritage buildings, because these places hold many memories for Singaporeans and in doing so, people could understand the country’s transition from a colonial city to a strong and independent nation.

Lastly, she emphasised the importance of designing responsibly for users, so that buildings would stand the test of time.
