The Dream Sphere
Singapore Pavilion, Expo 2025, Osaka
Osaka, Kansai, Japan

The Singapore Pavilion with its bold form and striking and tactile envelop set in geometric symmetry to the iconic Grand Ring by Sou Fujimoto, is a stunning visage. It marks our nation’s bold step in joining the global call to action at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, for a better and more sustainable future.

Our design journey was a deeply reflective one. In distilling our national identity and spirit into a cohesive architectural and experiential spatial narrative, we were captivated by the concept of the “Little Red Dot” and drawn by the interplay of individuality and inclusivity, people and nature, collaboration and innovation. Manifested as The Dream Sphere, the Singapore Pavilion is evocative yet endearing; encapsulating Singapore’s bold vision and impact despite her small size. It also communicates, through creative use of materiality and craft, our commitment to inclusion, collaboration and innovation – values that drive our progress as a nation while resonating with the Expo’s overarching theme, ‘Designing Future Society for our Lives.’

The outcome, architecturally expressed in layered composition, is not a static structure. The Dream Sphere set within the Dream Cloud (an organic, cloud-like landform) and enveloped by Dream Discs (modularly designed and three-dimensionally arrayed recycled aluminium discs of varying sizes and textured), is a dynamic environment that invites visitors into a Dream Scape where they can become a part of the collective tapestry; embracing our interconnectivity, sharing in values of resiliency and inclusivity, contributing their vision of sustainability and liveability, and joining the call to co-create a better tomorrow for all lives.
