Configuring Context, Negotiating Constraints
Yotel Singapore
366 Orchard Road, Singapore 238904

The brand’s first micro-hotel in Asia, Yotel Singapore stands out in the famed Orchard shopping district with its 30-storey façade of textured glass and aluminium juxtaposed against a rustic 7-storey bronze podium. The striking façade complements the distinct aesthetic of the Yotel brand, appealing to worldly, tech-engaged urban travellers.

Working with a very tight site, each typical guest cabin size is at approximately 12.5sqm. DP Architects and DP Design creatively configured the layout and to provide smart space-saving design solutions so as to maximise the volumetric height of the rooms and views of the city skyline. The result are inward-facing rooms that not only presents generous volumes of space that bestows a sense of comfort but also unobstructed views of city which adds to the sense of luxury.

To accommodate for the full-suite of in-house facilities without extensive back of house areas, each mechanical room was laid out to justify its space requirements to the tee. This freed up GFA for the integration of open spaces for co-working, social gatherings and exercise. Each, carefully layered to encourage opportunities for interactions and foster a sense of community among guests.

The design scheme for Yotel Singapore is a demonstration of clever creative choices within a confined space in a high-density urbanscape.
