Ar. Angelene Chan and DPA Projects Showcased at ‘P*DA20: Power of Singapore Design’ as Past Recipients of President*s Design Award

Marking 20 years of the President*s Design Award (P*DA) at the National Museum of Singapore, the anniversary exhibition – ‘P*DA20: Power of Singapore Design’ – was opened on 17^th September by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, along with Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ms Gan Siow Huang, and Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Education and Ministry of National Development, Dr Syed Harun Alhabsyi.

DP Architects’ executive chairman, Ar. Angelene Chan, was featured at the exhibition as a recipient of the P*DA Designer of the Year award in 2018. Recognised with Singapore’s highest honour for designers, the award has stood a testament of Angelene’s commitment to architectural and design excellence as well as her contributions to broader economic development, with key projects such as Wisma Atria, Suntec City and Resorts World Sentosa. A firm believer in architecture that prioritises user needs, Angelene’s portfolio of works demonstrates this drive for meaningful and intentional design.

In particular, her design of Sunray Woodcraft Construction Headquarters – a winner of the Design of the Year award in 2015 – rethinks the conventional industrial building to deliver a seamlessly multifunctional and climate-sensitive architecture.

Other notable DPA works were among the featured past Design of the Year recipients, including Goodlife Makan, Republic Polytechnic, Mediacorp Campus and Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay.

Jointly presented by the DesignSingapore Council and the Urban Redevelopment Authority, ‘P*DA20: Power of Design’ showcases 130 Designs of the Year and 47 Designers of the Year at the National Museum of Singapore from now until 1st November 2026 as part of the award’s 20th anniversary celebration.
